Thank You for Reelecting Me

Dear Richmond District 6 residents,

As more ballots have been counted, the trend shows that I will be serving as a Richmond City Councilmember for another 4 years.

I want to thank Richmond residents in District 6 who are giving me the opportunity to continue to serve as your City Council member. Thank you to the hundreds of volunteers who believed in my campaign and donated their time and money to build a Richmond for All. Thank you to the many community organizations and unions who supported my campaign. A special thank you to my family – my husband Eli Moore, who has been supporting my public service every step of the way, and my two kids Antonio and Alicia. I love you!

I am still committed to ensuring that those who are struggling the most in our city receive the support they need so that everyone can thrive. I will keep on building an effective and responsible city government that is truly accountable to all Richmond residents. I will not stop supporting a budget that represents community values and preserves services that uplift our community, especially our youth. I will make sure our council continues to reimagine public safety; that means addressing the root causes of violence and investing in innovative solutions for public safety. I will keep on demanding strong environmental regulations and supporting fair taxation. I am here to work with all of you so we can continue to build a brighter and more equitable future for all.

Despite the unfortunate results at the national level, I am committed to protecting our community and respecting the rights and dignity of all people. For example, our immigrant community can trust that I will do everything in my power to protect them. Richmond is a sanctuary city, and our police department does not work with ICE to deport immigrant residents.

Richmond is a community that is resilient and has always recovered from tough situations. We know how to organize and solve problems. I am here, ready to work with all of you to make Richmond the best it can be.

Claudia

Claudia

My Position on Public Safety | Mis Posiciones Sobre La Seguridad Publica

It’s important for you, the voters, to understand my record, and my actual positions on public safety. The Richmond Police Officers Association has a history of mailing inaccurate and self-serving attack mailers during city elections. I want to address some misinformation in mailers from the police union that distort my position on police.

How Richmond is Becoming Safer | Como Richmond Se Esta Volviendo Mas Segura

Hi neighbors,

I am proud that Richmond has become safer during my term, and I am determined to continue this progress because even one homicide or assault is too many. Many of our neighbors and loved ones have experienced the trauma of losing someone to violence. I too have lost a loved one to gun violence, so I take this extremely seriously. But our pain should not be turned into blind faith that the only way to prevent or decrease violent crime is to hire more officers. Recently violent crime rates have been declining in Richmond even though we have a smaller police force. True safety is about much more than policing. It takes dealing with the conditions that make people turn to domestic violence, the underground economy, untreated mental health conditions, and other situations that foster violence.
